Halcyon DIR Dive Systems Each Seminar will include an introduction and land skills portion, plus some dive with an time to practice the skills presented in the review.

Those who want to attend a workshop need to be at that coordination point to meet the host. If you are not there at the start of the workshop, you may not be able to join once it has started.

Saturday - August 8 2009

Saturday Workshops

  • GUE Fundamentals Skills

    A land presentation on the basics buoyancy control, trim and associated skill development. We will then hit the water and work in improving buoyancy and body control.

  • Introduction to Survey

    Why, how, where, methods, standards, practical application. A short presentation on the basics. We will then go out and do a simple in water survey and collect the data.

  • Stage Bottle Workshop

    A introduction to the setup and rigging of stage/deco cylinders and their use. This is intended as familiarization for divers that are interested in further training or acting as support divers. In water session would be appropriate for anyone interested in trying various stages in the water, perhaps to decide what to buy or see how they can be rigged to balance. There will be various 40s, 80s to play with. Doubles are required for this session.

  • Saturday Afternoon OnlyScooter Workshop:  

    Introduction to scooters, and an opportunity to try them out. Land session covering the basics - general overview, setup, skills, dive management. In-water covering adjusting tow cord & riding position, simple turns.

      • Guideline Devices, Tips & Tricks

        Learn the basics of primary reel use and line work, and useful tips for spool and reel use.

        An introduction to the use of guidelines; including a land practical session covering team roles & positioning, primary & secondary tie-offs etc. Followed by in-water practice.
